Prosthetic Support Through Insurance

If you've lost a limb due to an accident, insurance may help cover the cost of your prostheses and prosthetic care. In New South Wales (NSW), there are different insurance schemes depending on how the injury happened. Here are the most common Insurance pathways.

Motor Vehicle Accidents

Not at fault with non-threshold injuries: You may be eligible for coverage under the CTP (Compulsory Third Party) Scheme.

Not at fault with severe injuries: You may qualify for the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme, managed by icare.

Workplace Accidents

If your amputation happened at work, you're likely covered under NSW Workers’ Compensation Insurance.

What Can Insurance Cover?

Insurance may help with a wide range of prosthetic-related costs, such as:

  • Your first prosthesis and custom fitting.
  • Replacement prostheses (after a set period, depending on the policy).
  • Repairs and maintenance of your device.
  • Rehabilitation and physiotherapy to support your mobility and independence.
  • Consumables like stump socks and liners.

How the Process Works

  1. Book a Consultation with APC Prosthetics
We’ll assess your needs and discuss your goals.
  2. Collaborative Planning
We’ll connect with any required allied health professionals (e.g., occupational therapists, physiotherapists) to develop a care plan.
  3. Quote & Insurance Coordination
We prepare a detailed quote and communicate with the insurance company to seek approval.
  4. Prosthetic Care Begins
Once approved, we’ll begin creating your prosthesis, schedule fittings, and start your ongoing care plan—tailored to your lifestyle.
