APC Prosthetics started out as a dream, committed to serving the amputee community to achieve the best comfort, function and lifestyle possible for our clients. In June 1998, APC was established as a partnership of four founding members; David Howells, Richard Kurby, Erwin Munger and Harvey Blackney. Our first patient was cast while the walls were still being built by gyprockers at a small unit on Kleins Rd, Northmead.

We cast 138 legs 7 and a half months through our first year and were growing strength to strength each year. Originally established in Northmead, we soon realised that with ever growing demand, bigger and more modern facilities were needed. In 2004 a purpose-built premise was established at Redbank Rd, Northmead, which remains our Northmead Clinic today. The clinic was officially opened by the then NSW Minister for Health and former Premier of NSW, the RT Honourable Morris Iemma.
APC has always and continues to be devoted to focusing on client outcomes, making sure that every person who walks out our doors has had their life improved, and that their expectations, hopes and dreams are met. The philosophy that APC maintains over the years has been to treat every amputee as if they were family.
“Even though in business you have good clients and bad clients, whoever comes through our doors you have to think of them as if that was your mother, father, sister or brother. How would I treat them? What would I do? The answer is you’d do what was best for them.”
– David Howells.
Starting out as a small practice of just 4 employees, APC has grown to a staff of 40 employees today. We have been fortunate to employ a tremendous group of talented and dedicated people over the years, whether they be administrative, clinical or technical personnel.
In 2016, APC expanded further with the opening of APC Alexandria, a new modern facility located in Alexan-dria, NSW. Perfectly located near Sydney Domestic and International Airports and the Sydney CBD, the estab-lishment of the Alexandria Clinic was important to make it more convenient for our interstate and international clients to access our services. The Alexandria Clinic provides comprehensive prosthetic services and employs the latest prosthetic technology and solutions for the amputee community.
The addition of APC Hunter in Newcastle was established in 2007, enabling APC to provide prosthetic services to the amputee community in the Hunter and Newcastle region. Ron Wright was the founder of the APC Hunter Clinic, capably supported by a senior team; Ian Robertson, Brian Murphy, Ben Wright and Kelly Fu. We were fortunate to find a group of people in Newcastle who had perfectly symmetrical values and aspirations as APC, who joined us to establish the Hunter branch.
