Welcome to our New Clinic

Sydney’s newset prosthetic clinic to be established since 2004

APC Prosthetics’ brand new modern facility located in Alexandria NSW is the newest Sydney prosthetic clinic to be established since 2004.

The clinic provides all prosthetic services but the Alexandria clinic will specialise in high-end prosthetic technology for NDIS participants as well as private and insurance clients.

Meet Our Team

Stefan Laux

Manager / Senior Prosthetist

Stefan qualified as a Prosthetist / Orthotist in 1998 in Heidelberg, Germany. He practiced in Germany for 5 years before joining APC Prosthetics in 2003. Since then he has aligned his qualifications by completing a Bachelor Degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics at La Trobe University. He has been servicing the Amputee Clinics at Liverpool and Braeside Hospital for a number of years. Stefan has a special interest in the management of partial foot amputees and is the most experienced practitioner in fitting microprocessor controlled foot systems in Australia. He is a very strong believer in ongoing education and incorporating the latest technology to maximise outcomes for his clients.

David Howells, OAM

Senior Prosthetist

David is a founding member and director of APC Prosthetics and one of the most highly regarded Prosthetists in Australia, with over 30 years experience. David has been appointed as the Prosthetist to the Paralympic Team since Sydney 2000, and was bestowed with an Order of Australia in 2006 in recognition of his contribution to amputees and the prosthetic profession. He has presented at Australian and International Conferences, and has been lecturing at the UNSW lower extremity course for more than 15 years. As Australia’s most experienced micro-processor knee practitioner, he now manages over 40 patients using this technology, since he fitted the country’s first C-Leg in 1999. His passion is working with the Paralympic athletes and applying these cutting-edge practices to his everyday community clients.

Cameron Ward

Senior Prosthetist / Orthotist

Cameron graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor Degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics in 2000. He joined the clinical team at APC Prosthetics in the same year and has been an accredited honorary prosthetist at Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals for a number of years. During the 2000 Sydney Paralympics Cameron was actively involved in managing many Medal winning track and field amputees. At the beginning of 2006, Cameron played an integral role as lead prosthetist of the successful Interim trial running at Westmead Hospital. He now specializes in early prosthetic management programs and has a special interest in the field of sports and specialised prostheses. Cameron is particularly interested in increasing his involvement in paediatric prosthetic services.

Marta Geada

Prosthetist

Marta joined the APC Prosthetics team in September 2017. She graduated in 2012 from Escola Superior das Tecnologias da Saúde de Lisboa, in Portugal, where she is from. She then spent 5 years in London, working at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, with a focus on paediatric prosthetics. Marta is part of the Osseointegration team and APC Alexandria team.  She believes in individual patient care and that great work can best be achieved by a team effort. She makes a priority to ensure that each patient has the best experience and achieves their own personal goals.

Charles Wheeler

Prosthetist

Charles originates from Avenel in north central Victoria. He graduated from Latrobe University in 2014 with his Masters in Clinical Prosthetics and Orthotics. He spent 2015 at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital as part of the Queensland Health P&O scholarship. Where gained valuable experience in acute and sub-acute orthotic management. Charles joined the Northmead APC team at the beginning of 2016. Since then Charles has been a part of the Liverpool, Braeside and Hornsby amputee clinics and now primarily attends the Westmead amputee clinic. Charles has a passion for prosthetics and currently has interest to pursue pediatric prosthetic management. Charles is an active AOPA member and always looking to build his knowledge base. Charles is a strong believer in providing the most appropriate prosthetic technology to allow his clients to achieve their optimal function and reach their full potential.

Lisa Schrei

Prosthetic Technician

Lisa did her training as a prosthetic technician in Germany and while travelling in Australia spent some time at APC Prosthetics. The dynamic environment at APC Prosthetics, always utilising the latest developments for our clients, and the Australian lifestyle, convinced her to join our team permanently in 2013.

Marc Linde

Prosthetic Technician

Marc completed his training as a prosthetic technician in Germany. After his sabbatical in New Zealand, Marc moved to Sydney to join APC Prosthetics as a prosthetic technician. Marc’s enthusiasm in interdisciplinary is inspired by helping patients to get a new life feeling.

Miriam Grant

Reception and Administration Assistant

Miriam joined as the Receptionist and Administration Assistant for APC Alexandria in June 2018. Miriam is results driven and committed to helping patients improve their quality of life. Her role entails customer service, organising appointments, raising orders or invoices, submitting reports and supporting the clinical team on an ad hoc basis.

Aila Wilkins

Reception and Administration Assistant

Originally from Dunedin, New Zealand, Aila completed a one-year traineeship of study and graduated with a Certificate III in Business. In 2017, Aila moved to Sydney for work and in August 2019 she joined the administration team at APC Alexandria.
